MPI Machines for Elastic Railway Clips (ERC)

Quad Clamping (4 rods at once) | Octa Clamping (8 rods at once)

Toshniwal Technologies Private Limited manufactures high-output Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) machines specifically designed for crack detection in Elastic Railway Clip (ERC) rods. Our Quad and Octa clamping configurations are engineered to deliver exceptional productivity, repeatability, and operator ergonomics for high-volume ERC manufacturers.

Our MPI systems are purpose-built for fast, consistent inspection of ERC rods, ensuring reliable defect detection while significantly improving throughput on the shop floor.

Quad Clamping MPI Machine

The Quad Clamping MPI Machine enables inspection of four ERC rods in a single cycle, offering a major productivity improvement over conventional single-shot systems.

Key Features

  • High throughput inspection for ERC rods

  • Individual clamping for each rod, ensuring precise current flow through all rods

  • Compact clamp spacing for easy loading and unloading

  • Compact placement ensures uniform UV light intensity across every rod, delivering optimal crack illumination for best visibility

  • 2000 amp Transformer ensures RDSO compliant current passes through every ERC rod

Octa Clamping MPI Machine

Inspect 8 rods simultaneously

For higher production requirements, Toshniwal Technologies offers the Octa Clamping MPI Machine, capable of inspecting eight ERC rods in one cycle.

Smart, scalable design

Our latest high-efficiency quad clamping blocks features a closer clamp arrangement, making rod positioning easier and inspection faster. By installing two such clamping blocks side by side, the system output is effectively doubled—resulting in the Octa Clamping MPI Machine, a significant advancement in productivity and ergonomic design.

Key Features

  • Extremely high inspection output

  • Improved operator comfort and workflow

  • Compact placement ensures uniform UV light intensity across every rod, delivering optimal crack illumination for best visibility

  • 4000 amp Transformer ensures RDSO compliant current passes through every ERC rod

  • Consistent inspection quality across all eight rods

  • Suitable for large-scale ERC production lines

Advanced clamping rail design

Our latest clamping rail architecture is designed to improve both speed and ease of operation:

  • Closer clamp arrangement for quicker and more accurate rod placement

  • Reduced handling effort, improving operator ergonomics

  • Faster inspection cycles without compromising inspection quality

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Quad/Octa Clamping configuration uses one dedicated clamp per rod (4/8 clamps for 4/8 rods). This is critical to ensure that the same inspection current passes through each rod, resulting in proper and uniform circular magnetization.

Configurations using a single clamp for multiple rods are not acceptable as per RDSO requirements. Due to unavoidable length variations in ERC rods, electrical current preferentially flows through the longest rod(s), leaving the remaining rods with negligible or zero circular magnetization, thereby compromising inspection integrity.

Upgrade solutions for existing MPI machines

In addition to new machines, Toshniwal Technologies also provides upgrade solutions for older MPI systems. Existing machines can be upgraded from single-shot inspection to quad or octa clamping configurations, depending on operational requirements and machine condition.

Upgrade benefits

  • Significant increase in inspection capacity

  • Better utilization of existing infrastructure

  • Enhanced production efficiency with minimal disruption
